Overview/brief

WA Kaolin is an ASX-listed kaolin production company which holds the Wickepin Kaolin Project, 220km south-east of Perth, Western Australia. The company commissioned the Wickepin Processing Plant in September 2022 ahead of commencing a two-stage ramp up of production to 400,000 tonnes per annum.

Challenges

Tight Deadline

The biggest challenge was the very tight timeframe that the project needed to be completed by, and some of the working conditions were also rather challenging.

AUSPAN was able to work closely with WA Kaolin to design a 13,000m2+ de-gritting plant for the processing of more than 100Mt of extremely high-grade kaolin.

Main storage area designed to accommodate two gantry cranes
222 l/m of 300mm ridge vent
Bunker walls 4m high x 200mm thick including buttress walls
Specific height requirements including a 16m high section for the processing and bagging areas
