John Warr from Waringa Farming partnered with AUSPAN to design and construct a multipurpose workshop and machinery facility that could support both his machinery business and farming requirements. The resulting 30m x 72m facility provides expansive, unobstructed access for large machinery, creating a practical environment for manufacturing, storage, cleaning and maintenance while supporting more efficient day-to-day business operations.

The CHALLENGE

Creating clear access for large machinery

For John, the key challenge was achieving unrestricted access and flexibility for large machinery without compromising the functionality of the facility.

The design also needed to incorporate substantial weather-protected areas without introducing columns that could restrict access or create obstacles when manoeuvring machinery around the facility.

Unobstructed access for large machinery
Clear-span openings to improve manoeuvrability
Weather-protected working areas
Maximum visibility throughout the facility
A practical layout supporting both machinery production and farm requirements

The Solution

Designed to maximise access and flexibility

Drawing on AUSPAN’s design and construct expertise, the team worked closely with John to develop a customised facility that prioritisedaccessibility and functionality.

Two 12m column-free cantilever canopies provide substantial covered working areas without restricting movement. 24m clear-span door openings allow large equipment to move efficiently in and out of the facility.

A custom stormwater drainage system further improves functionality while minimising unnecessary pipework around the building.

Delivered by AUSPAN’s local WA design, manufacturing and delivery teams, the project was managed through a coordinated process from design through to completion.

The completed facility provides John with a spacious, flexible environment that supports machinery manufacturing, storage and maintenance while making it easier to move large equipment throughout the building.

Column-free covered areas, expansive clear-span openings and the custom drainage solution reduce physical obstruction, helping improve accessibility and practical use of space.
